Call for Candidates

As you will have read in the Press, and in our newsletter, Cllr Julie Gunnell will shortly step down as Labour Councillor for Micklegate Ward after serving for ten years. There will now be a by-election and we are looking for first class candidates to replace Julie in this vibrant York Central Ward.

Individual paid-up members of the party, resident in the York Council electoral area, and a member of the Labour Party for at least twelve months before the date of this notice, are eligible to be selected as our candidate.

We want to hear from you if you think you have what it takes to do this demanding, exciting and worthwhile job. Our political opponents will be moving very quickly so our timetable is unavoidably tight. We know that there will be many questions but for the moment we are only asking for expressions of interest. Once you have registered your name we will send further information and will, of course, answer any questions you may have before you decide whether you wish to make a formal application.

Please contact the Secretary, John Taylor, by midnight on Thursday March 2 2017 at the latest with your contact details and confirming that you are interested.

William Owen

Chair, City of York Constituency Labour Party
