Childcare raised at Clifton Green Street Stall

Thank you to everyone who stopped by at our Clifton Green Street Stall on Saturday.
Childcare is a massive issue - One that we speak about regularly on the doorstep in Clifton and at our popular street stalls.
Since 2010, there are 40,000 fewer childcare places and 720 less Sure Start centres.
The Sure Start centres that remain operate for shorter hours with less services.
The cost of a nursery place has risen by 33%, meaning that part-time childcare for a family with two children now costs more than an average mortgage.
Labour has a plan that recognises the pressures that working families face, Vote Labour on May 7 for:

  • 25 hours free childcare for 3 & 4 year olds
  • Double the number of existing Sure Start centres which will add atleast 50,000 more childcare places
  • A guarantee that childcare is available for parents of primary-aged children, through your local school from 8AM to 6PM
  • 4 weeks paid paternity leave for fathers including an increase of more than £100 a week
