Consultation on Scarborough Bridge

City of York Council is now consulting with residents regarding the upgrade of Scarborough Bridge. As your Ward Councillors, we have been very vocal on this topic. At each meeting that Scarborough Bridge has been on the agenda and in our surgeries and coffee mornings, we have spoken in support of improving the current footbridge.

We believe that Scarborough Bridge is a key link in connecting Clifton to the rest of the city and that it is very important that it is accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs and cyclists with significant benefits for pedestrians too. The proposals could ensure that access to the bridge remains open even when the floodgates are closed due to rising river levels. Of all the proposed sustainable travel improvements to be made in York, Scarborough Bridge has the most tangible benefits.

You can find further details of the consultation by viewing the boards that are currently on display at the bridge or by visiting the website at www.york.gov.uk/scarboroughbridge

We encourage you to have your say by sending your comments to scarboroughbridge@york.gov.uk or by post to: Scarborough Bridge Consultation, City of York Council, Transport Projects, Eco Depot, Hazel Court, York YO10 3DS.
