Discounted business rates in return for the living wage

At last nights council meeting local Westfield Councillor Steve Burton proposed a motion addressing cost of living in the city. The motion called for discounted business rates for small employers paying the living wage and other measures to bring down the cost of living.

Households across the region are £2,300 worse off In real terms than in 2010 and has been a common doorstep issue across the ward. Steve said:
"The motion sends an important message to the public that common sense measures to support hard working people are important at a time when they have seen their incomes decrease in real terms"
