Have your say on Burton Stone community centre

Labour Councillors Danny Myers and Margaret Wells are urging Clifton residents to give their opinions on the future of Burton Stone Community Centre.

York City Council has invited residents to have their say on the proposal to build a new community space at drop-in centres, online or by post before March 30.

Cllr Danny Myers said:
"As local Councillors our priorities are clear; Clifton residents need improved community facilities. We're pleased that our request for a full Clifton-wide consultation is now taking place after last year's efforts were rushed and not focussed on the people of Clifton. We would urge all residents to make their voices heard."

The proposal is to build a new 150 square metre community space, allowing the majority of the current user groups to continue to deliver activities, classes and events for the benefit of local residents. It would be built as part of an extension to Marjorie Waite Court, the sheltered housing facility next door to the existing community centre.

For more information or to have an informal discussion, the council is holding several drop-in sessions at Burton Stone Community Centre on:

Wednesday February 8, 10am to noon
Tuesday February 14, 4pm to 6pm
Thursday February 16, 5pm to 7pm
