Throughout November Heworth Branch members and councillors have been building on their support for York Foodbank by collecting items for Christmas.  Cllr Barbara Boyce said: ‘Several of us kept a box in our homes and added something to it every time we went shopping.  We then took our collections to the food bank at the end of the month and we have donated 107.4kg of gifts in total.

‘We donated special treats for Christmas such as chocolates, as well as everyday necessities like pasta, tinned fruit and vegetables etc. We also included items that might be overlooked, items such as shampoo, sanitary products and pet food.

‘I’d like to say thanks to everyone who donated. People are very generous to York Foodbank and they want to reassure us that every item will be used by somebody in need.’
