Heworth Labour Party raises food and cash donations for local food bank

Labour’s Heworth Branch today made food and cash donations to charity, following a successful Summer Fair on the weekend.

The Fair took place on Saturday in the garden of the Shoulder of Mutton pub on Heworth Green, with a number of children’s activities including a bouncy castle, and stalls helping to raise funds for a local food bank. Live music was provided by local jazz trio, Bejazzled.

Cllr Barbara Boyce said:

“The weather was kind to us which helps immensely when you want people to come out and support a local community event.  As well as raising well over £400 for Trussell Trust foodbanks in York, we have also donated a number of boxes of food kindly provided by those who attended."

Martin Handsley, Branch Secretary said

“This was the Labour Party being active in the community and helping local people in need as well as having a fun day.  Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event in providing much needed food and funds to a very worthy cause.  We are looking forward to arranging another event very soon."
