Councillor - Guildhall
It is a great privilege to have been elected as one of the Labour Councillors for Guildhall ward. This is a really exciting ward, covering York’s historic city centre, and the strong and vibrant communities which surround it.
I was born and grew up on the other side of Yorkshire, but I’ve had family living in York since I was very little. When I was younger I was always excited to visit this fantastic city and was determined to live here when I was older. After completing school, I moved here to attend the University of York. I recently bought a flat in Guildhall ward, which I’m really looking forward to moving into as soon as it’s built!
Guildhall ward has residents from every walk of life, with a vast range of experience. The one thing you can be certain of is that if you want to know something about York, there will be someone in Guildhall ward who knows all about it! Representing people from across this ward, I know just how hard some residents are having to work just to get by. I’m passionate about making sure that everyone in our city is given the opportunity to succeed - no matter who they are or what background they come from.
I also strongly support protecting our environment. York has a unique and historic city centre, which should be protected as best we can, so that it can be enjoyed by future generations. To do this, we need to work together to find the best solutions to some of the difficult issues facing our city.
During the election campaign, you told me that your biggest concern is anti-social behaviour both in the city centre and in our local communities. This is a really important issue, which is having a major impact on many residents lives. I’ll support making our communities places where everybody feels safe and secure.
In addition being a Labour Councillor, I also work as a project management consultant, advising organisations on how to effectively deliver large and complex projects. I previously worked for the railways, constructing railway infrastructure and retail units. I’ll use my professional experience both as a project manager and as a consultant to continue to challenge the Council to deliver better services for residents.
When I’m not out campaigning, listening to local residents or attending Council meetings, you’ll usually find me working out at the gym.
