Julie Gunnell steps down

Micklegate ward is on election footing following the decision by Cllr Julie Gunnell to stand down after ten years.

Julie has a new job and a new grandson, and her sister has been diagnosed with cancer. She said: ‘I want to thank all the residents and local people who have helped and supported me over the years.

‘One of the best things I have done in my time on the council was in my year as Lord Mayor, and the work with IDAS and the Jack Raine Foundation to raise awareness around domestic violence and the abuse of children.’

York Labour will shortly be announcing the selection process and the date of the by-election.
