Councillor - Holgate
I am very pleased to have been elected as a Labour councillor for Holgate, the ward in which I live. I am looking forward to working with fellow Labour councillors to represent local people and their views.
Our particular priorities for Holgate ward are:
- Building on communities – empowering local people to shape the future of Holgate
- Clean and safe streets – because everyone deserves to live on a decent street
- Defending our Bus routes – Fighting to maintain our connections to the city
- Investment and developments - York Central.
I have been appointed to the Shadow Executive as the lead for Labour on adult social care and health, building on my work experience, my voluntary activities, and being a carer for my mother.
I am also keen to use the experience I have gained as a charity trustee, a school governor, involvement in running a range of groups, including a parent and toddlers group, activities for Silver Surfers, and a Fairtrade group. I continue to be involved in my local residents association, to be a member of the York Older People's Assembly, and a community member of York Explore.
In my spare time I hope to continue enjoying the company of our daughters and grandsons, taking advantage of the many things there are to do in York, and encouraging friends to visit us so that we can introduce them to the pleasures of York.
