Post Office Consultation Underway

Clifton Ward Councillors are encouraging the public to have their say on relocating the services to a Londis shop on Haxby Road.  The move would take the branch 800 metres away from its previous location from north of York hospital to the east of the main hospital site.

A long awaited replacement for Crichton Avenue branch post office could be open as early as March, as Post Office consults on providing services from a new location.

Clifton Councillor Margaret Wells said:
“The consultation is already underway and we want the public to get in touch with the Post Office to offer their views. Although the proposal still means Clifton ward will have no post office, the new branch on Haxby Road would be closer for many residents than the branch at Eastholme Drive. The consultation runs until 22nd January and we would like as many people as possible to reply.

“Comments can be emailed to: comments@postoffice.co.uk, citing the reference number for the new branch of 27934999. It’s important Post Office hears how this new location and planned counter services will work for Clifton residents”.

Fellow Ward Councillor Danny Myers added:
“We remain conscious of the fact that Clifton still has no branch post office and continue to explore possibilities within the ward to ensure post office services are within reasonable reach for all residents of Clifton”.
