Post Office talks continue in Clifton

We have recently met with Post Office bosses to push for a replacement branch post office over nine months after the ward’s only branch closed. We met with Mark Gibson, Head of Public Affairs at Post Office Ltd to talk through the closure of Crichton Avenue branch Post Office in Clifton and the search for a replacement.

Mr Gibson explained that Post Office Ltd is still in talks with a potential operator in the hope of returning post office services to residents in Clifton.

Crichton Avenue has been closed for nine months and this impacts heavily upon residents and other businesses in Clifton, so we’re pleased to hear a replacement could be on the horizon.

Since 2010, there have been 177 Post Office closures around the UK, with 26 of these closures being permanent. We do not accept that Clifton should suffer a permanent closure and are working hard to find a new home for the Post Office.

Post Offices contribute to busy local communities and offer vital services to residents. It is encouraging that Post Office Ltd are in talks with a potential operator and we will do all we can to make sure these talks end positively with a new branch Post Office in Clifton.
