Councillor - Heworth
I was born in Yorkshire with a Dutch mother and a very Yorkshire dad. My mum is nearly 94 and I have a daughter and son and two granddaughters; they all live in Hertfordshire.
I am pleased to be re-elected to serve all the residents of Heworth and to continue working as Chair of Tang Hall Community Centre as well as with the management committee of Bell Farm Social Hall. Together with my colleagues, I will do all I can to support the Resident Forums in Muncaster, Huntington Road, Tang Hall, Bell Farm and DARA.
I am now a member of Main Planning, the Corporate Parenting Board and SACRE and am a substitute on several other committees. I will continue as a trustee of Be Independent, which provides the warden call service and equipment to enable people to live independently.
In a personal capacity, I am an appointed lay member of the General Pharmaceutical Council and am also a member of the Minster Community Committee.
After graduating from Hull University in Social Administration I have spent most of my working life in the voluntary sector as chief executive of two national patient charities. I have also been a lay member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the National Clinical Assessment Authority. I was the patient member of the Richard Neale Inquiry and have worked as a patient consultant with a range of NHS organisations, national voluntary sector organisations, and the pharmaceutical industry. I have also worked with the Cochrane Collaboration and was a member of the Pharmacy Practice Research Trust and a Health Technologies Research Programme.
I am a member of the National Trust, Socialist Health Association and Christians on the Left and continue to campaign on health issues. I have a keen interest in the environment, gardening and my allotment. I belong to the Minster Community Walking Group, enjoy travelling and spending time with family and friends
