Westfield residents invited to discuss new children's play area on Monday

Westfield ward councillor Steve Burton is encouraging residents in the Cornlands Road area to attend a consultation meeting about the design of a new play area on Monday evening.

The meeting will take place between 5.30pm and 7pm on Monday 21st July at Energise.

Inspired by the Cornlands/Lowfields Residents Association ideas for a play area in the main grassed area off Cornlands Road - opposite the shops - have been discussed for some time, but had been stalled.

After intervention by Cllr Burton, the proposals went out to tender and should lead to the play area being constructed by October this year.

Cllr Steve Burton said;

“I really welcome the proposals for a much needed play area for children in Cornlands Road and the good working relationship between the City of York Council and the Cornlands Road Residents Association who have played a key role in the design of the play area. It’s really important that we get the design right, so I hope as many young people and their families will come along on Monday night have to their say.”
